Mid-Autumn Festival 2008

The theme for MAF 2008 is "朋"

"朋" conventionally is the Chinese character for friendship. However, in addition to its meaning of friendship, "朋" (shuang1 yue4 "双月") also represent two phases of the moon: the new moon, a sliver of light with enormous potential for growth, and the full moon, a shining disc burning brightly in the night sky.

"朋" symbolizes the union between these two moons. The new moon is like the students of Hwa Chong, slowly but steadily growing and maturing into bright individuals. The full moon symbolizes the alumni of Hwa Chong, emerging from their education in Hwa Chong to become well-rounded members of society.

MAF 2008 will be a night of nostalgic revelry as you return to Hwa Chong to celebrate friendships, both old and new, and relive the memories of your days in Hwa Chong. We promise a memorable moonlit night as you enjoy the performances put up by our students, traditional college songs and mass dances as well as a street market and many other fun-filled activities.
