    Pre-requisites:

    IP Students

  • Obtained at least A2 in EL
  • Excellent Sec 4 results

    Non-IP Students

  • Gain admission to Hwa Chong
  • Obtained Distinction in O-Level EL
  • Interview

    Humanities Scholars interested in offering both H2 Mathematics and KI may choose to offer KI in place of a third Humanities subject.  With this flexibility, they will satisfy the requirement of having at least three content-based H2 subjects when offering KI, which is a skills-based subject.

     

  • Language Elective Programme (Chinese) (LEP)

    Interested students need to obtain the following:

    o         At least a B3 in O-Level Higher Chinese (B3 in Chinese Literature, optional)  OR

    o         The equivalent of the above based on IP School internal assessment

    *All students will have to take a language proficiency test to be nominated for the LEP scholarship.

    Students are required to take one of the subjects below in addition to H2 Chinese Language and Literature (CLL) to qualify as a LEP student (in JC 1):

  • H1 General Studies in Chinese (GSC)
  • H1 China Studies in Chinese (CSC)
  • H2 China Studies in Chinese (CSC)
  • H2 History (Chinese) (CHist)
  • H3 Chinese Language and Literature (CLL) (offered in JC2 only to students who qualify)

    There is no restriction on the remaining subjects provided one of the content-based subjects is of a contrasting discipline.

     

  • Art Elective Programme (AEP)

    Pre-requisites:

    IP students with Art background:

    • Obtained a good grade in Art
    • Present their portfolio at the interview
    • Sit for a selection test

    Non-IP students with Art background:

    • Gained admission to Hwa Chong
    • Obtained a good grade in O-Level Art
    • Present their portfolio at the interview
    • Sit for a selection test

    IP & Non-IP students with NO Art background:

    • Gained admission to Hwa Chong
    • Present their portfolio (if available) at the interview
    • Sit for a selection test

    All AEP students in HCI are required to read BOTH H2 and H3 Art. They will have to offer the following papers:

    1)       SOVA (Study of Visual Arts) – H2
    2)       Studio Practice – H2
    3)       Theory of Art – H3

    There is no restriction on the remaining subjects provided one of the content based subjects is of a contrasting discipline.

     

    Bi-Cultural Studies Programme (China) (BSP)

    Pre-requisites:

    At least a B3 in O-Level Higher Chinese or its equivalent

    All BSP scholars (in JC1) are required to take:

  • H2 China Studies in Chinese (CSC) OR
  • Both H1 China Studies in Chinese + H2 Chinese Language & Literature

    BSP non scholars from Sec 4 IP can choose to read only H1 CSC in the Bicultural Studies Programme.

    Summary of H2 CSC:

  • 2-year course
  • 4 hours per week
  • Submission of an Independent Study research paper in JC2

    Students are advised NOT to take H2 Chinese Language and Literature (CLL) together with H2 CSC if they intend to apply to universities in the UK.
