Hwa Chong Institution (High School) Entrance Examination

Application for the High School Entrance Examination is now open to students who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents. They can apply directly to Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) for a place in the Secondary Two or Three for the 2010 academic year.

The closing date for application is 12 October 2009.

The Entrance Examination will be held in the High School Section on 2^nd  November 2009 (Monday). 

Candidates will have to sit for four tests:

• GAT (General Ability Test),
• English Language,
• Chinese Language and
• Mathematics.

Before you apply, please note the following essential information.

• Hwa Chong Institution is a Special Assistance Plan school (SAP) in which our students must study English and Chinese at first language level. 
• Our High School is also an all-boys' school.
• The new school academic year starts on 11 January 2010.
• School fee rates are available on our website under 'School Fee Structure'.

Complete the application form. You can either mail the form, together with the Examination Fee ($200, inclusive of GST) or submit the form and payment in person at our High School Reception Office.

If the application form is incompletely filled or the payment is omitted in the submission, the application will be rendered as void. Applicants should contact the school by email at admin@hci.edu.sg or tel: 64665912 if they do not receive the entrance examination time schedule by 20 October 2009.

International Students

Admission into Hwa Chong Institution (High School)

From academic year 2009 onwards, applicants who are international students are required to sit for a centralised admissions exercise that is conducted by the Ministry of Education of Singapore.   This Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) will be conducted on 2 dates, 29 Sep 09 and 13 Oct 09.

Based on the applicants' performance in the AEIS, MOE will decide if the applicants should be posted directly into HCI.  No further entrance examination will be required although placement tests in HCI may be applicable, on a case by case basis.

Applicants with Dependant's Pass or Immigration Exemption Order or with either parent who is a Singapore Citizen (SC) or Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) may be exempted from AEIS.  That is, they can apply directly to HCI.  These applicants will have to sit for an entrance examination, as stated in the earlier section.

International students who wish to study in Singapore are required to apply for an International Student Pass with the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).  A local sponsor (Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident) is needed. The school does not provide guardianship.
